Cricket

Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each. The game is played on an oval-shaped field with a rectangular 22-yard-long pitch at its center. One team bats, trying to score runs by hitting the ball and running between wickets, while the other team bowls and fields to prevent runs and dismiss batters. A run is scored when the batters successfully cross between the two sets of wickets after hitting the ball. The team with the most runs at the end of the game wins.

Cricket matches can vary in format, including Test matches, which last up to five days, One Day Internationals (ODIs), and Twenty20 (T20) matches, which are played in a shorter duration, usually around three hours. The game’s origins trace back to 16th-century England, and it has since become a popular sport in many countries, particularly in South Asia, Australia, England, and the Caribbean. Cricket is governed internationally by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The sport has a rich history and a deep cultural significance in many nations.
