Football

Football refers to a team sport played between two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each, where the objective is to score goals by getting a ball into the opposing team’s net. The term “football” can denote different variants of the game depending on the region, but it most commonly refers to association football (known as soccer in some countries), governed by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).

In association football, players primarily use their feet to maneuver the ball, although they can use their heads and any part of their bodies except for their arms and hands (goalkeepers are an exception). The game is played on a rectangular field with a goal at each end, and matches generally last 90 minutes, divided into two halves.

Football is one of the most popular sports globally, characterized by its strategic play, teamwork, and the skill of its players. The sport has a rich history and a vast following, culminating in significant events such as the FIFA World Cup, which features national teams from around the world competing for the championship.
