Pope Francis

Pope Francis is the current leader of the Roman Catholic Church and the bishop of Rome. He was elected as the 266th pope on March 13, 2013, succeeding Pope Benedict XVI. Born Jorge Mario Bergoglio in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on December 17, 1936, he is the first pope from the Americas and the Southern Hemisphere. Pope Francis is known for his emphasis on humility, compassion, and social justice, as well as his efforts to address issues such as poverty, climate change, and interfaith dialogue.
