Soccer

Soccer, also known as football in most countries outside the United States, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting the ball into the opposing team’s net. Players primarily use their feet to maneuver the ball, but they can use any part of their body except their arms and hands (goalkeepers are an exception, as they can use their hands within the penalty area).

The game is typically played on a rectangular field with a goal at each end, and matches are played in two halves, usually lasting 45 minutes each. Soccer is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB).

Soccer is the most popular sport globally, with millions of fans and players and is played in various formats, including professional leagues, amateur clubs, and international competitions. The FIFA World Cup, held every four years, is one of the most prestigious tournaments in soccer and draws significant global viewership. Soccer emphasizes teamwork, strategy, and skill, making it a dynamic and engaging sport.
