Tennis

Tennis is a racket sport played between two players (singles) or two teams of two players each (doubles). The game is played on a rectangular court divided by a net, with players aiming to hit a lightweight ball over the net into the opponent’s court. The objective is to score points by making the ball land in the opponent’s court in such a way that they are unable to return it.

Players use a racket to strike the ball and must follow specific rules regarding serving and returning. Points are scored in a sequence of games, which are then grouped into sets, with the ultimate goal of winning a predetermined number of sets to clinch the match.

Tennis can be played on various surfaces, including grass, clay, and hard courts, which can affect the ball’s behavior and play style. It is a highly strategic game that demands physical agility, endurance, and precise hand-eye coordination. The sport is governed by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and features major competitive events such as the Grand Slam tournaments: the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open.
